Bio


David Schwingle is a certified acting, speech, and voice coach (PRA), playwright (MFA), actor, and director. David writes new plays, acts in Shakespeare’s, and coaxes actors and new work onto the stage. He has a passion for creating new stories and sharing them with an audience, and he loves helping others do the same.

David teaches at The Fine Arts Center. He is the founder of Eleventh Hour Theatre. He was a finalist for The American Prize directing award for his work on King Lear.

In 2023 David played Hamlet (again!) with The Greenville Shakespeare Company.

David works regularly with business professionals to help them speak with warmth, clarity, and power.


Education

MFA . PRA . MA

In 2017, David completed a Voice and Acting Teacher’s Certification (PRA) through the Patsy Rodenburg Institute for Voice and Speech.

David is now a Patsy Rodenburg Associate.

In October, 2014, David completed his MFA in Playwriting as a member of the Playwright's Lab at Hollins University (Roanoke, VA).

David’s MFA Thesis featured three original plays: a one-act play and two full-length plays. The plays loosely responded to three, landmark Strindberg works: Miss Julie, A Dream Play, and The Ghost Sonata.
